Nicholas D. Miller, known professionally as Illenium (stylized as ILLENIUM), is an American musician, DJ and producer, most known for his remix of 'Don't Let Me Down' by The Chainsmokers.[1][2]

Background[edit]
Miller was born in Chicago, Illinois, but grew up in San Francisco and later moved to Denver in 2013.[3][4] He began making electronic music in early 2008, and after seeing Bassnectar perform a show at Red Rocks in the summer of 2012, Miller became passionate about working on his first release, noting that: 'when I saw him, I got Ableton the next day.'[5]

2013: Self-titled EP[edit]
In 2013, Illenium made his official debut with the release of his self-titled EP. The EP was released through the Los Angeles-based Prep School Recordings record label on May 20.[6]
2014-2015: Risen EP, Painted White EP[edit]
On January 14, 2014, Illenium self-released his second EP, titled Risen.[7]
On July 21, 2015, Illenium released his junior EP[clarification needed] (with Cristina Soto and Said The Sky), titled Painted White, via Gravitas Recordings.[8]
2016: Ashes[edit]
In 2016, Illenium launched his own record label, Kasaya Recordings.[9] On February 15, 2016, Illenium released his debut studio album Ashes as a free download via Kasaya Recordings and MrSuicideSheep's label, Seeking Blue.[10][11] The album peaked at number six on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart,[12] and at number 19 on the US Top Heatseekers Albums chart.[13] The album was made available on vinyl on March 25.[14] A remix album was released for Ashes on December 16.[15][16] Illenium later embarked on The Ashes Tour, which concluded on December 28, 2016.[17]
On October 10, 2016, Illenium released his collaboration with Said The Sky and Seven Lions (featuring Haliene) titled 'Rush Over Me'.[18]
2017: Awake[edit]
On July 24, 2017, Illenium released his collaboration with Zeds Dead titled 'Where The Wild Things Are'.[19]
On September 21, 2017, Illenium released his second studio album Awake via Kasaya Recordings and Seeking Blue.[20] The album peaked at number 106 on the US Billboard 200 chart,[21] at number three on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart,[22] and at number seven on the US Top Heatseekers Albums chart.[23] A remix album was released for Awake on June 18,[24] and piano covers for three songs from the album were released together on December 22.[25]
Illenium won Remix of the Year at the 2017 Electronic Music Awards for his remix of Flume's song 'Say It'. He also performed at the Electronic Music Awards show that year.[26]
2018[edit]
On February 13, 2018, a collaboration between Kill the Noise, Illenium and Mako, titled 'Don't Give Up on Me', was released as a single via Proximity.[27] The song was initially leaked in the Reddit community by fans who revealed the link to the (then-unreleased) version of the song that was published on Mako's YouTube channel.[28][29]
On July 17, 2018, Illenium released his collaboration with Excision (featuring Shallows) titled 'Gold (Stupid Love)'.[30][31]
On July 21, 2018, Illenium debuted his new single 'Take You Down' at the Global Dance Festival.[32] The single was released on August 3, 2018.[33][34]

On November 9, 2018, Illenium released 'God Damnit' with Call Me Karizma.[35][36]
On November 30, 2018, Illenium released his remix of 'Without Me' by Halsey.[37][38]
2019: Ascend[edit]
On January 24, 2019, Illenium released 'Crashing' featuring Bahari.[39][40]
On January 29, 2019, it was announced that Illenium will perform at the Indy 500 Snake Pit on May 26, 2019, along with Skrillex, Alesso, and Chris Lake.[41]
On March 22, 2019, Illenium released 'Pray' featuring Kameron Alexander.[42][43]
On March 31, 2019, while at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Miller debuted a single with The Chainsmokers during their closing set. The track 'Take Away' will be releasing soon.
On April 28, 2019, Ekali teased a collaboration with Miller.[44] They debuted the song rumored to be titled 'Hard To Say Goodbye' together during Ekali's set at EDC Las Vegas in the morning of May 20, 2019.
A single with Jon Bellion titled 'Good Things Fall Apart' was released on May 13, 2019.[45]
On June 11, 2019, Miller announced his third studio album titled Ascend will be released on August 16, 2019 and has teased a big tour announcement along with album presale info in the coming days.[46]
Personal life[edit]
In 2013, Illenium moved to Denver, Colorado, where he currently resides.[47] During an interview, Illenium stated that when he's not producing music, he spends a lot of time outdoors with his friends, noting: 'I feel like that keeps me centered.' He also stated that one of his favorite activities is going out to the movies.[48]
Illenium cites ODESZA and Porter Robinson as some of his musical influences, while also considering Robinson a 'dream collab.'[49]
In July 2018, before the release of his single 'Take You Down', Illenium posted on his social media about his drug addiction in the past, and the struggles he and his family had to face. He said that the single was inspired by his journey through drug addiction.[50][51][52]
